Dear Eisenberg Families,
We have some incredible news to share! We are thrilled to announce that CCSD has partnered with Paper to provide ALL students in K-12 with free, 1-on-1 tutoring and writing support. You can explore this incredible resource with your students right now! Have them go to app.paper.co, search for their school, and login to start a tutoring session. Learn about Assembly Bill 195 and how it impacts English Language Learners in Nevada!
Assembly Bill 195: Overview Assembly Bill 195 (AB 195) revises provisions relating to pupils who are English learners. Approved by Governor Steve Sisolak on June 2, 2021, AB 195 extends the rights of English learner pupils and parental rights. Section three of the bill included below provides an overview of these rights. Available Translations English Spanish Tagalog Chinese Amharic Vietnamese Arabic Tigrinya Dari Swahili You can also find this on our website by clicking Parents>AB 195 and hovering over the language of your choice. Teachers will begin reaching out soon to let you know our second MAP window is open (November 16-December 18th)! Each grade level has assigned days to test. Please help your child's teacher to ensure your child has a quiet environment to take the test in. They also benefit from sitting at a desk/table that is free of distractions.
It is important to remember this assessment is adaptive. The first question is on grade level, and depending on how your child answers each question, it increases or decreases difficulty from there. This is why it is so important your child does their personal best without any outside assistance. This assessment is not graded. Your child's teacher uses this information to see what your child is ready to learn next. Please encourage them to try their best. The testing guide for families (linked below) is a great resource for families to review. Please make sure to check the chrome settings for updates and restart your Chromebook/computer that your child will be using for MAP testing. Directions can be found on our website by clicking Back to School>Chromebook Help. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher. Thank you for your support! Many biking accidents that occur with children are the result of the children on the bikes riding in an unsafe or unobservant manner. Teaching your children the importance of good bike safety is the most important part of their safety while riding back and forth to school. Although "stranger danger" is a concern for many parents that allow their children to ride to school, the greater risk will be the biking behavior of your child. Staying observant, keeping to the rules of the roads, and respecting the responsibility of their independence.
Tips for bike riding to school:
Not all cities allow bikers on sidewalks, but some do and some that don't will gladly overlook children on sidewalks...especially when it's obvious they are riding home from school. Call your city and ask! The document linked below has direct links for students in grades 2-5 to practice math utilizing Khan Academy.
When your teacher met with you at conferences, you were provided your child's MAP assessment scores. Students are taking the mid year assessment now, so you will receive another update soon. This is a new tool being offered to students and families this year. Some students have a login which tracks their progress and updates their teacher on their progress. If your child has a login, please have them use it! If not, there are direct links to practice within this document! Click the link below for more information. Khan Academy Math Practice aligned with the MAP assessment. Did you know we have a schoolwide Class Dojo account? We post information to all families to make sure you are all in the loop! At the start of the year we will send home information regarding how to connect to our school! You can create a login by downloading the app and/or visiting the website. We hope this helps streamline communication for all of our families! https://home.classdojo.com/#/login?redirectTo=%2Fstory |
